What data we collect

We collect the following data depending on how you use the service:

• Band checker tool — postcode entered into the checker (used to run the band assessment)
• Payments — payment details are processed by Stripe and are not stored by TaxBandCheck
• For Professionals enquiry form — name, company, email address, phone number (optional), firm type, and portfolio description

Why we collect it

We collect postcode data to run the council tax band assessment. Enquiry form data is collected to respond to professional enquiries about our triage tool and API access. Your data is used solely for these purposes.

Legal basis for processing

We process your personal data on the basis of legitimate interest (providing the band assessment service) and consent (when you submit an enquiry form). You may withdraw your consent at any time by emailing us.

Who we share your data with

We use Stripe to process payments and Resend to deliver transactional emails. We do not sell your data to third parties or use it for marketing beyond the stated purpose.

Data retention

We retain enquiry form submissions for 12 months from the date of submission. After this period, your data is permanently deleted. Postcode data entered into the checker tool is not stored.

Cookies

TaxBandCheck uses essential cookies only, which are necessary for the website to function. We do not currently use any tracking or analytics cookies.

Your rights under GDPR

Under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), you have the following rights:

• Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
• Rectification — ask us to correct any inaccurate data
• Erasure — ask us to delete your data
