Band D as the Reference Band

In Wales, Band D is the reference band against which all other bands are calculated. A Band D property was valued between \u00A391,001 and \u00A3123,000 as of 1 April 2003. Each council sets its own Band D rate annually, and all other bands are expressed as a fraction or multiple of this amount.

What You Pay

Band D rates vary significantly across the 22 Welsh local authorities. Cardiff\u2019s Band D rate is around \u00A31,987 per year, while some valleys authorities charge less. The Welsh Government publishes all Band D rates each April.
